This map of Europe shows the highest mountain peak for each country.
No matter where you are in Europe, each nation has its own high mountains to boast of. The highest of them all is located in Russia, with its Mount Elbus standing at a towering 5,642 meters (18,510.5 feet) high.
Besides Russia’s Mount Elbus, five more countries have mountain peaks that are at least 4,000 m (13,123 ft) high, including Mont Blanc (4,808 m / 15,774 ft), which is shared by both France and Italy.
The map also includes the highest peaks of tiny island groups that belong to their parent European country, such as the Azores (Portugal) and Canary (Spain) islands.
At just 75 m (246 ft), the Vatican Hill in Vatican City has the shortest peak among these European mountains.
Whether you love mountain climbing or trekking, or you are just simply fascinated by the numbers, it is no wonder that Europe does not fall short of having these breathtaking natural wonders for every one of us to appreciate in our own way.
