Map created by Train Face

The map below shows the differences between the metro train lines of Chengdu, China, and Toronto, Canada, in the span of 14 years (from 2010 to 2024).

The Canadian city of Toronto has had an existing metro subway line since 1954. In 2010, it had four train lines. However, it was reduced to three in 2024, with the removal of Line 3 (Scarborough; blue line), but with Line 1 (Yonge-University; yellow line) expanding to the northwest. In total, the Toronto line comprises a total of 70 stations, spanning a total length of 70.1 kilometers (43.6 miles), and serving around a million people daily.

Meanwhile, the Chinese city of Chengdu only opened a metro train system in late 2010, and by 2024, it boasted over 300 train stations in 13 train lines. All these stations have a total length of 558.1 km (346.8 mi), with a daily ridership of around 6 million passengers.
