Every Country’s Tourism Slogan

Map by Family Break Finder

The world map above shows the tourism slogans for each country. The map was made in 2016 by Family Break Finder, a family-oriented holiday website based in the United Kingdom. The site’s founder, Dominic Sawyer, said that the country slogan map “is an intriguing view of tourism marketing around the world, with its mix of many generic slogans and some bizarre ones.

The travel website also says that across all these taglines, there are a total of nine exclamation marks (!) used. In addition, the word ‘beautiful’ is used the most, with six slogans bearing it. In the word cloud that they generated, it is also revealed that the words ‘experience’, ‘life’, ‘heart’, and ‘discover’ are also frequently used in these tourist invitations.

All countries in the world have their own unique slogans to invite tourists to visit their country, except for 38 countries that don’t have one.

One of the most interesting slogans is that of Colombia. The country’s slogan is “Colombia is magical realism”, with the “magical realism” part being a tribute to Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

Some of the best travel slogans went with the technology-driven audience and incorporated the hashtag, such as Spain (#SpainInDetail) and the United Kingdom (#OMGB: Home of Amazing Moments).

British newspaper The Telegraph prefers the short and catchy slogans over those that are long and “[do not] exactly roll off the tongue”.

Bored Panda dissected the slogan finder map into the world’s different continents so that it is easier to take a closer look at the slogans for each country.
