This is a map of the United States where it shows each state’s most popular social media application. It is interesting to note that the most popular apps listed all have their headquarters located in the San Francisco Bay Area in California.
According to telecom company CenturyLink, the number one social media app in the U.S. is Snapchat (marked in yellow). Featuring fast-paced social media posts, it is the most searched social network in 11 U.S. states, led by North Dakota.
Pinterest (red) is America’s second-most popular social app. Ten U.S. states love to post in this virtual bulletin board, with Montana leading the pack.
Photo-sharing app Instagram (purple) is third on the list, with high popularity in nine states, including the app’s home base of California.
Instagram’s parent company Facebook (blue) places fourth. Eight states have FB as their most favorite social app, with West Virginia as the top state.
Tied for fifth place are Reddit (white) and YouTube (red), with six states each. The state of Washington checks out Reddit the most, and Mississippi is the most-subscribed state on YouTube.
In the last place is the microblogging site Twitter (light blue). It is most popular in the District of Columbia, where the White House is located. This is most likely attributed to the frequent tweeting of the 45th U.S. President, Donald Trump.
