This map of the United States shows the most popular fast food chains of each state in 2017. The data for this map was gathered through check-ins in the mobile app Foursquare.
Chick-Fil-A, which specializes in chicken products, is well-loved in a vast majority of the U.S. More than two-thirds of all U.S. states – 39 to be exact – checked in with this fast food restaurant the most.
McDonald’s is the second-most checked-in fast food location. Three areas in the U.S. – the states of North Dakota, Alaska, and the District of Columbia – gave their love to the Mickey D’s.
Two chains received the most check-ins from two states apiece. Chicken shack Popeyes is checked-in the most in South Dakota and Hawaii. Many Foursquare users from Utah and Texas visited In-N-Out Burger.
Five other fast food chains – Raising Cane’s, White Castle, Culver’s, Taco Bueno, and Wendy’s – received appreciation from one state each.
