Hawaii Topography & Bathymetry Map

This is a map of the U.S. state of Hawaii. This map features the topography (land features) and bathymetry (depth of ocean floors) of the Aloha State.

The state consists of several islands, which were formed out of volcanic activity, notes ThoughtCo. These islands have a stretch of 1,500 miles (2,400 meters) from one end to the other, according to Britannica. From left to right on the map, these islands are:

  • Ni’ihau
  • Kauai
  • Oahu
  • Molokai
  • Lanai
  • Kaho’olawe
  • Maui
  • Hawaii, a.k.a. “Big Island”

ThoughtCo adds that besides the eight main islands, there are over 100 minor islands spread within the archipelago. The state’s highest point is the Mauna Kea, a dormant volcano in the center of the Big Island. It is standing at 13,796 feet (4,205 m) tall. Down south is the Kilauea volcano, which is the largest active volcano crater in the world, as detailed by City-Data.com.

To-Hawaii.com says that among the nine water channels separating each island, the Kaieiewaho or Kauai channel is the widest and deepest water channel in Hawaii. This waterway that separates the Oahu and Kauai islands measures 72.1 miles (116 kilometers) wide and is 10,890 ft (3,319 m) deep.
